Love for the Little ones

Of all the crafts I engage in Polymer clay is my first love. I have always been amazed at being able to bring a lump of lifeless clay to a Reasonable Facsimile of a life form! I' ve been creating clay figurines for some time but recently returned to them after venturing into other avenues, here are a few of my old as well as more recent renderings! Enjoy!

Water Cycle Lapbook

Here is an experiment from our Water Cycle Lapbook. This proves that plants absorbs water through its veins. We put blue (red would have been better) food coloring in a jar added a stalk of celery. Then we watched the blue water climb up the stalk, at some point we couldn't take it anymore and broke the stalk to SEE the process, quite an exciting process for my son. He learned alot! And enjoyed it! We took resources from more places then I can remember. I start collecting our resources and copying papers etc, about 3months or more in advance so when the time comes we can just dive into it. Below are a few links and references for you to follow. And hopefully a picture too!:}

Many of you know about the new Selling Venue Lollishops. Its a wonderful new site dedicated to showcasing a often overlooked and hidden craft/talent.

Thrift Store Find!!

This is a beautiful vintage ( 80's radio) I found at a local thrift store. Its pink! What comes to mind? Cindi Lauper? Roxanne, Roxanne? Darryl and Oates(?) ? I know one of them did:} it works great and was only $1.15! (1/2 off coupon) Obviously no one but me would appreciate a find like this because I saw it at the store not once but twice (the first times I had on my logical thinking cap- the you don't really need this one) and the third time I grabbed it and never looked back! Now I'm on the hunt for more tapes to help me create in my studio what Louie Armstrong, (check), Ink Spots, (check), Rudy Vallee and his Gentleman Songsters (check)! Hey if you create with vintage emphemera, its only right to submerge yourself totally down to the checkered knickers and specs!;)

Lollishops in the Spotlight!

My first Lollishop to be featured here is Sugar Affair! http://www.lollishops.com/sugaraffair

I love the Homemade Look and I know, I'm going to love the Homemade Taste! It has that -I've been slaving over a hot stove all night, making the graham crackers from scratch, stirring the chocolate and sugaring the marshmallows! Not the pristine and perfectly squared born in a factory two weeks ago and therefore not as great look;] I look forward to featuring more of my LolliSisters here for your quick viewing and enjoyment and frou-frou satisfaction!

Lollishops is up and running!

How exciting! Yes I know , I'm late in announcing , but that's pretty much the story of me. Day late...:} I'm very excited about the Lollishops venture, I hope it thrives for a few reasons, first and foremost, I love the fact that the Quaint world of frou-frilly and shabby-savy have a stage to showcase on. And perhaps gain a bit more respect. there are MANY women who A) Love to CREATE the cottage style and B) Love to BUY the cottage style that don the stores of Lollishops. The women here are talented and its very obvious we love what we do. Its obvious from our ventures on and off of Lollishops. We're serious about this style. I'm glad Sadie Lou had the courage and wisdom to open up this door both she and us. Thanks Sadie! I've been creating with vintage materials and collecting beautiful emphemera for years, creating and giving these treasures as gifts and I am happy to be able to offer them to customers all over the world through platforms such as Lollishops. Hang in there all you fellow Lollishoppers and support, promote and show off the style you love!

Questing-Finding-Accomplishing

I'm on a quest to get organized this year, you'd think after nearly 10 years of homeschooling I'd have it down. Well I know people who've been schooling for 14+ and still can't find anything;}We get our work done and in a timely fashion even when I can't find what I'm looking for, we improvise. So here we are entering into 7th and 6th grades, so I'll tighten up my belt a bit. Any who, I wish to share with you some wonderful spots on the web to aid in your homeschooling quest. These you'll no doubt find helpful whether you've been schooling for 2 years or 20. These are some awesome sites with much to offer and most are free! Here are some of my favorite and most relied upon:

Exploring

I've been playing around with a few new widgets on this world of the web. ( A whole world in itself, goes without saying) I found a few cool tools one of which is this beautiful electronic signature. Its so cool...

What do you think?;}

More Sweet Stacks for Sweet Creativity

Cotton Candy Creativity Stacks. Here is more Sweet Stacks of Creative Sparks for you to enjoy!

Imagine the possibilities with gorgeous vintage papers and emphemera like this. Simply endless.

Its so fun to rummage through some one else's belongings isn't it? A passtime I've enjoyed since at the very earliest the age of 5. I would be thrilled when someone passes on (not literally) a large trunk full of vintage goodies or the thrill of the catch when you move into a new home and find all those left behind treasures. I'd take on 15 different personalities in on one play date. Pearls and clasp purses, ear bobs and stiff dresses, old fans, and the almighty sewing case complete with half darned socks. That my friend is the start of a life long love affair, as I have with Old But Beautiful ~things.

New items arriving daily {well almost}

Some Creativity Stacks I've been producing lately and decided to post in the store . This one is a beautiful inspiring color combination. My favorite color is green so I'm partial to this one. It includes so many goodies~~~~>

  • Vintage rickrack and seambinding

  • Vintage Straw

  • Flowers, stamens and milinery items

  • Vintage Bingo cards and game pieces

  • and so much more!

Stay tuned to the shop for new additions
